Community Steps Up: Lenny’s Charity Sale Raises $24,804 to Fight Hunger
16th annual event brings cumulative support for the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf to more than $340,000
BARRE, VT — Local shoppers turned shopping into support for their neighbors during Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel’s 16th annual Charity Sale on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Together, Lenny’s and its customers raised $24,804 for the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf, bringing the event’s cumulative donations to more than $340,000.
Leading up to the sale, customers made a $10 donation to either organization in exchange for a custom canvas tote bag and access to exclusive storewide savings. Every dollar collected went directly to the two nonprofits to help fight hunger in Vermont and New York.
“Our customers show up for their neighbors, year after year,” said Mark McCarthy, co-owner of Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel. “Sixteen years and more than $340,000 later, this event is a reminder of what we can accomplish together. We’re grateful to everyone who helped put food on local tables.”
The annual Charity Sale reflects Lenny’s ongoing commitment to the communities surrounding its four stores in Barre, Williston, and St. Albans, Vermont, and Plattsburgh, New York. Funds raised support the organizations’ work connecting individuals and families with food and essential resources.
