Sales of Lenny’s exclusive skiing chicken socks hatch $6,078 donation for neighbors in need

BARRE, VT – Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel is shaking its tail feathers with a  $6,078 donation to support the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf.

For the 9th year in a row, Lenny’s teamed up with Darn Tough Vermont to hatch a limited-edition, Vermont-made sock. This year’s playful design featured poultry on the powder—yes, skiing chickens carving turns down the slopes—and was released exclusively at Lenny’s in September. Customers flocked to grab a pair before they flew the coop.

As part of this egg-cellent tradition, Lenny’s donated $2.00 from every pair sold to the Vermont Foodbank in Barre and JCEO Foodshelf in Plattsburgh.

“When local businesses step up in creative ways like this, it strengthens our whole community,” said John Sayles, CEO of the Vermont Foodbank. “We’re thankful to Lenny’s and Darn Tough for their continued partnership and commitment to helping our neighbors put food on the table.”

“We’re proud to continue this partnership with Darn Tough and give back to our communities in a fun, meaningful way,” said Mark McCarthy, Co-Owner of Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel. “These socks aren’t just warm and durable—they also help put food on the table. Now that’s something to crow about.”

Lenny’s will keep this tradition sunny-side up, with another limited-edition Darn Tough sock design hatching next fall.

Over the past 14 years, Lenny’s has donated more than $319,000 to the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf through store fundraisers and collaborations.

Lenny’s exclusive feathered friends on the slopes inspired customers to sock it
to hunger—raising $6,078 for local food shelves.

This week we donated $1,128 to the JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf for the limited edition Darn Tough Socks. Great job team Plattsburgh!
