BARRE, VT - In an effort to aid Vermonters affected by the flooding that devastated many communities in our state, local retailer Lenny's Shoe and Apparel has partnered with RSVP and the Central VT Long Term Recovery Committee to offer vouchers for the purchase of shoes and boots to those most affected by this unfortunate disaster.

On Wednesday, November 16, the Granite Center Garden Club and the Greater Barre Democrats joined the efforts and each made a monetary donation to this cause.

“The state has done a tremendous job reaching out to help those affected by the flooding. People have generously donated clothing, food, money, time and physical labor to the victims,” said Mark McCarthy, Vice President of Lenny's. “One item we noticed people are still lacking are shoes and boots, which are critical as we head into the cold winter months. We hope that partnering with RSVP and the Central VT Long Term Recovery Committee to distribute vouchers for shoes and boots will help fill that void.”

The vouchers are good for $50 towards the purchase of a new pair of shoes or boots at both Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Barre locations and allow the recipients to take an additional 25% off the lowest ticketed price.

If you would like to make a monetary donation towards this relief effort, please visit Lenny's Shoe & Apparel at 359 North Main Street (next to Rite Aid) or the outlet store at 54 North Main Street in Barre. To mail a check, make the check out to “Lenny's Shoe & Apparel” and mail to: JoEllen Calderara, RSVP, PO Box 433, Barre, VT 05641.
