EH (ELECTRICAL HAZARD)

EH rated footwear protects the worker in the event that they encounter a live current. EH boots ground the flow of electricity, minimizing the risk of electrocution. Electricians generally require EH boots given their line of work and their constant exposure to dangerous electrical currents.

ESD (ELECTRO STATIC DISSIPATIVE)

ESD rated footwear reduces the build up of static and prevents static from damaging electronic components and igniting flammable mixtures. In these cases, employers outfit their employees with ESD shoes or boots as an investment not only to protect valuable equipment, but their employees as well. ESD shoes are regularly used in conjunction with ESD floor materials. ESD floor materials significantly improve static dissipation. ESD floors are made using a variety of different materials, all of which are designed to meet standards specific to your work environment. When ESD shoes and floors are used together, optimal static control is achieved. ESD shoes or boots are designed using ESD compliant insoles. REMEMBER: If you must replace the insoles in your ESD shoes, you must replace them with insoles designed to comply with your shoe.
