$11,650 Raised to Fight Hunger in Vermont and New York

Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel has donated over $103,000 to the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf since 2010


 

BARRE, VT – On Saturday, October 21, locals shopped till they dropped – and raised more than $11,000 to fight hunger.


During the 8th annual Charity Sale, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel and its customers collectively raised $11,650 for the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf. Today, Lenny’s owner Mark McCarthy presented a check for $8,790 the Vermont Foodbank.  On Wednesday, Lenny’s will be donating $2,860 to the JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf.


“On behalf of the 153,000 Vermonters who turn to the Vermont Foodbank network for each year, we are so grateful for this generous gift," says Vermont Foodbank CEO, John Sayles.  "Lenny's Shoe and Apparel sets a compelling example of how local businesses can take a stand against hunger and help make our state a place where all can reach their full potential. Lenny’s customers were encouraged to make a $10 donation to the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf in exchange for an exclusive Charity Sale VIP coupon and 2018 Lenny’s Calendar. 100% proceeds from each calendar sold went directly to the non-profit organizations. Lenny’s is continuing to collect $5 donations in exchange for the 2018 Lenny’s Calendar filled with great money saving coupons to use throughout next year.


“Our customers have astounded us once again with their generosity,” said McCarthy. “To date, we have donated $103,395 to these organizations.”
